Monday Musings: Journey Two Art Bead Inspirations

Happy Monday, everyone! Have you started creating for our second Art Journey of the year? I hope so… but if not, I’m here to share some art bead goodness to help get you thinking about it and excited to get to your bead table! Let’s get those creative juices going for Art Journey Two!!

Before I dive in, a tiny caveat. Much like how I go through each of my art bead drawers for my own jewelry designs, in searching for art bead inspiration to share with all of you, I opened up some of my favorite shops in search of things that spoke to each of the three pieces of artwork. This isn’t in any way meant to be exhaustive or a shopping list… I realize that some of these makers are outside of the U.S. and that it’s always possible that not all my picks will still be available by the time you see this post. That being said, whenever possible, I’m providing a link to each artist’s shop in the photo captions.

Blondine Threw Her Arms Around Him

Blondine Threw Her Arms Around Him ::  1) Inviciti 2) Lindy’s Designs 3) Josephine Beads 4) Outwest 5) Majoyoal 6) Inviciti

I have to admit that this one was the hardest for me to find really fitting art beads for even though I found it the most striking of the three pieces. That being said, I do really like the beads that I did discover! I was truly thrilled to find both kitty and deer charms to show you. I adore the geometric design in the glazing in the ceramic earring charms… and that both the blue and red tones are present.

Blondine and the Tortoise

Blondine and the Tortoise :: 1) Suzie Q Beads 2) Captured Moments 3) Gaea 4) Majoyoal
5) Donna Millard

There’s much to love in this illustration, but I was especially inspired by the shapes and textures of the tortoise itself. The middle row of beads in my collage are all about that. But don’t overlook the dark, twisty, lush background or those shining stars in the sky!

Proserpina and the Sea Nymphs

I’m so glad that this undersea scene was included for Journey Two… it has such a different feel from the other two yet is so clearly by the same hand. The ocean and sea life are inspiring to so many folks, and there are many elements to get excited about here! My picks include starfish, shells, and fish as you might expect. I also picked some glass that echoed the coral color and the spots of the little bubbles coming from the fish.

Before I head back to the studio to get down to creating, I wanted to give you a little peek at the art beads that I pulled from my own hoard for each of the pieces of inspiration artwork. Hopefully you can tell which photo goes with which illustration! It remains to be seen what I actually create, but you’ll get to find out in two weeks!
