12 Days of Christmas

On the 6th Day of Christmas – Last Minute Art Bead Wreaths With Silk Ribbon Bows

I am loving making these little beaded wreaths that feature art beads at the very center!!  They make a great little last minute ornament gift idea because they are quick to make, and chances are, if you are reading this post, you have a stash of art beads:)

All you need:

Beads for your wreath that will frame your selected art bead

Some wire to for the beads to go on, to make the shape of the wreath (I used 19 gauge steel) and very thin wire for your bow (I used 28 gauge brass)

Silk or other ribbon for your bow

And of course – THE ART BEAD!! The art bead I used for this wreath is a ceramic art bead made by Caroline Dewison of Blueberri beads.  I received this wonderful bead in a bead swap. It actually has a Little Red Riding Hood in the forest theme.  I thought the evergreen forest theme would really suit this wreath ornament.

To get started – simply add desired beads onto wire keeping in mind how much space you want in the center of your wreath, for your art bead.  Then tie both ends of wire into a wire loop at the top.

Next make your silk bow to add to the top.  Sorry for the slightly fuzzy pic here! But this is a very simple bow made by folding two loops, pinching them together, and wrapping the thin wire around the center to keep it together.

You will also use this wire to attach the bow to the wreath. To do that, you will just wrap the wire ends (from bow) in with your wire loop at the top of your wreath. Don’t forget to trim up the edges of your ribbon to your desired length!

Here is another wreath I made with one of my porcelain, little blue bird headpins. I have a few more of these on the go! I just love how versatile this project is, and how fast they come together!!

For this one, I played around and made two wire loops. The one below was to wrap the headpin to.  I knew I did not have to worry too much about how perfect my wire wrapping was because the bow would cover it!

Maybe this project idea will come in handy when you need a gift in a hurry during this busy holiday season!!

Wishing you inspiration in everyday!!
