In the Chaos: Hidden inspiration

You have been seeing a lot of inspiration from Alphonse Mucha here at art bead scene lately. I did some other beads inspired by his work in my last post. Today I am going to zone in on a little hidden inspiration and show you where it has taken me so far. I am still going with it even….and will be for a while…..

What is it? look what is hiding under this beautiful lady’s left arm, covered under a sheet, she is leaning on what looks like a sculpture of a dark skin male. This really stands out to me. I have so many questions….like, what is the signifigance of this sculpture pertaining to the painting, and the story Mucha is telling? Why is it partially hidden, and why is she leaning on it?? Alphonse Mucha was often influenced by sympolism, so there must be a meaning…..I will likely never know! but I do wonder and my curiosity brings about inspiration.

So I re-created him (in bead size of course) as how I thought he might look without a sheet covering him. Here he is:

I thought he looked a little sad and lonely…….so……. I gave him a little tribal face paint….oh, and a lady!

I added little wire hoops at ear level so I could make earrings for his lady.

Kept going with more face paint inspiration:

**Fun fact – tribal face paint is worn for a multitude of cultural reasons including, social status, religion, military reasons, and much more! I find it so fascinating!

And some more lady faces with earrings. I will say I prefer making beads to making jewelry, but making jewelry FOR my beads was a fun, new experience for me! Although Loralee, our earring whisperer would have done a much better job. When I offer these ladies for sale, I think I will sell them without earrings to allow the buyer more creativity.

I have some more realistic face sculptures I am working on…they are not ready to show yet. I will keep riding this inspiration till it ends, I have been really enjoying the journey! These beads will go really well in my “Inspired by Africa” show coming soon. “Soon” as in when I force myself to stop making beads and sell them! I like the “making” part most:)

Take care out there – love and peace to you all!
